Ukraine ready to move quickly in diplomacy, but USA can take most tangible steps – Zelenskyy

Ukraine is ready to move as quickly as possible in diplomacy, but it is the United States that can take the most tangible steps for Russia towards peace, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"47 days ago, we agreed to the American proposal for an unconditional ceasefire. And later we gave the Russians our own proposals to stop strikes on civilian objects. At least that, but they are responding there, in Moscow, with Shaheds, missiles, artillery and new assaults," he said in an evening video address.

According to the president, an appropriate response is needed, in particular, with new sanctions and even greater pressure.

"Of course, it is America that can take the most tangible steps. Tangible for Russia," Zelenskyy emphasized.

The president noted that the Russians used almost 150 strike drones against Ukraine overnight from Saturday to Sunday. "Since March 11, when America proposed a complete and unconditional ceasefire at talks in Saudi Arabia, the Russians have used almost 8,500 aerial bombs, almost 200 missiles of various types, almost 3,000 Shaheds, the absolute majority of them on ordinary cities, on civilian targets," he said, adding that "this must stop."

"Russia must stop the strikes. And of course, I thank everyone in the world who is helping us with this," the Ukrainian leader noted.
